Local members of Congress back biotech, pharma regulatory reform
LA JOLLA —- Biotech and pharmaceutical business leaders asking for more responsive government regulation got a sympathetic hearing from four local members of Congress at a forum Thursday.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee forum was convened by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista. He was joined by Reps Brian Bilbray, R-Solana Beach; Susan Davis, D-San Diego, and Duncan D. Hunter, R- El Cajon.

The representatives said they wanted biotech and pharmaceutical companies to succeed in bringing new disease treatments to market, both to help patients and to provide jobs —- an important issue for San Diego County’s large life-science industry.
