Barbeque with a Side of Pension Reform

A weird question: Want some really good barbeque with a side of pension reform?

Earlier this week we revealed outrageous pension payouts in the City of San Diego.  A lot of people asked me what they could do about it.  Here’s my response: JOIN ME FOR BARBEQUE.  Seriously…

I’m inviting you and any guests to join me for Phil’s BBQ on Wednesday, October 13.  Phil’s BBQ usually has a huge line out the door, but for one night only they are opening up to help raise funds for NO on Prop D — the campaign to stop the massive tax increase here in San Diego.  If Prop D passes, politicians will have fresh cash to dump into the pension system.

By coming to this event, you’ll not only help defeat Prop D, but you’ll have added benefit of advancing long-overdue pension reform in city government.

This is a chance to DO something about those outrageous pensions we uncovered in city government.

  1. Councilman:
Have you realized yet that the failure of your reform petition was no accident? That You were badly used and betrayed by people who intentionally put a Poison Pill in your effort? ‘Fool me Once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me’ should be your motto in the future.

  2. As you know, anonymity is allowed on Rostra. However, we do ask people to select a pseudo-name and stick with it, not whatever name strikes your fancy on any particular day. We would ask commenter “CarlwasBetrayed” to do the same, as you are now on your eighth different “name.” Thanks.

  3. This is false advertising.

Voting no on D kills the sales tax. Nothing here explains how a contribution actually promotes pension reform.

  4. Come on, Maassive. Without additional revenue, the city would be forced to address pension reform.
