SACRAMENTO, CA – In today’s “Are You Kidding Me?” segment, Assemblyman Jones (R-Santee) questions why Democrats in the Legislature passed a bill removing local school districts’ ability to save money in case of an economic downturn. Just today the majority party also blocked a Republican measure, Assembly Bill 146, which would have lifted the cap on school reserves.
“The more a school district can save, the more jobs and programs they can spare during tough financial times,” said Assemblyman Jones. “School districts who have been able to keep a reserve have not had to strike fear into their teachers by handing out pink slips. Not to mention, local school districts know far better where money should best be spent – or saved – not Sacramento!”
