SACRAMENTO, CA – In Assemblyman Jones’ latest “Are You Kidding Me?” segment, he reviews the Legislature’s latest attempt to control private property, by regulating groundwater. Governor Brown and Legislative Democrats passed a package of bills at the end of August to grant local governments broad authority to restrict groundwater pumping, shut down wells that have been paid for and drilled by private citizens and impose fines and penalties on private landowners. Assemblyman Jones says, “The unfortunate reality is the leadership in Sacramento used the drought as a political tool to control all of California’s water and the taxpayers front the billions it could cost.”
