This Decision Had to be Made Very Quickly

This past week brought significant change to the political landscape of San Diego County. For years, I’ve worked to strengthen our communities – partnering with nonprofits, supporting veterans, and improving local government.

These developments have created a critical gap, but also a vital opportunity to step up and serve where I am most needed. Therefore, I have withdrawn as a candidate for California’s 38th Senatorial District and am now filed for US Congress in the 49th District against the current incumbent, Mike Levin.

I want to assure everyone that this was not in the works for months or even weeks.  However, as a good soldier, I go to defend my country where I am most needed. The work we did leading up to today is not in vain.  We received so many endorsements from everywhere, we have virtually universal grassroots support up and down the coast, and our message has resonated across the political spectrum. So now I ask you all to continue this journey with me as we fight for a better quality of life.

Whether at the local, state, or federal level, my mission remains the same: to lower the cost of living, help small businesses thrive, expand access to housing for all income levels, reduce energy costs, and restore academic excellence in our schools.

For 25 years, I served our nation in the U.S. Navy. That same commitment to country and community guides me now. I believe every American deserves the chance to own a home, feel safe in their neighborhood, and build a better future for their family.

These changes have come quickly, but I’ve never shied away from adapting to meet the moment. My desire to serve has always been about you, not me – and I will bring my experience and dedication where they can make the greatest difference.

I’ll be sharing more details and updating our campaign website in the coming days. Thank you, as always, for your support and belief in what we can achieve together.

–Very Respectfully,

Armen Kurdian
