Crews have been working around the clock to repair and restore the Coastal Rail line to service. This post is not political, but it is informative, and you read it here first!

NCTD is pleased announce the completion of repairs along a section of railroad track damaged by considerable storm erosion. Crews from NCTD, Transit America, and Herzog worked around the clock to restore passenger and freight traffic through a damaged section of track in Sorrento Valley.

Crews also cleared a mudslide covering a section of track in Encinitas yesterday, allowing Amtrak passenger service to resume between Solana Beach and all points north.

Regularly scheduled COASTER service will return as planned on Monday, December 27. COASTER personnel will continue to monitor track performance until then, fine-tuning the recently completed work and preparing the system for Monday’s commute.

  1. Councilman:

Please see story below re: Crystal Crawford.

Whom do you see as potential winning GOP
candidates who might oppose her in 2012?

  2. Mr. Sills,

While Crystal Crawford has announced her candidacy for the 74th in 2012 on the Dem side, there is no guarentee that some other high profiile Dem such as Maggie Houlihan or Lesa Heebner won’t take her on for that nomination. Del Mar is a very small City and Ms. Crawford is no longer holding elected office while the other two are.

On the R side, I’m only currently aware of Assemblyman Garrick’s staffer Sherry Hodges as a proclaimed candidate for 2012.
However, 2012 is still a bit in the distance and I do know that there are some high octane R’s flirting with the idea of a run for it.

Frankly, re-districting and the “open Primary” will make the 74th one of the contests to watch in2012!

    Thanks for asking.

    Jerome

  3. Thank you, Councilman, for the well-informed insights
on the 74th AD. You’ve added some new names to
    the early discussion.
