“California Assembly Republican Leader Chad Mayes (R-Yucca Valley) engaged in an extramarital affair with Kristin Olsen, the former leader of the Republican Assembly caucus, and current member of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors,” writes GOP activist Joseph Turner in an exclusive on his website, American Children First.

At the heart of the blockbuster story is a copy of a letter reported to be from Olsen’s husband to Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, which requests an investigation into whether tax dollars were used to pursue or conceal the affair.

Kristin Olsen, left, and Chad Mayes, right, pose with a guest at an event.

“The CA GOP will continue to plummet into the abyss so long as it is led by weak, unprincipled frauds like Chad Mayes,” Turner told SD Rostra. “The people are waking up to the fact that the GOP is filled with con artists who are more concerned with stroking their egos and advancing their pathetic political careers than they are interested in fighting for the taxpayers.”

  1. A decidedly un-Christian personal attack for political objectives. We can do better than this.

  2. I haven’t checked in on Rostra for awhile – you’ve quickly reminded me why. Congratulations on hitting rock bottom Rostra.

  3. Sam, sorry that Rostra would ever run a piece about a subject that makes people uncomfortable. We know you’d rather not talk about sex and stuff. We know, it’s their personal business, not the public’s.

Sorry as well you’re incapable of connecting the dots. Maybe read the articles posted here since this one, related to Chad Mayes’ supporting Cap and Trade.

Oh, and if you think it’s a salacious story that only a cheap blog would touch, we do see the SacBee is now on it…

  4. Rostra is not a home for the alt-right name callers, who would openly violate Rostra’s calling to be a space for debate and not gaslighting, doxxing and hate.

“Commenters of all political persuasions are invited to comment and debate on the blog. The general rules are that commenters should be respectful, deal in issues instead of personalities, and stick to the topic. Foul language and name-calling will not be tolerated.”

  5. Mayes should just say “I’m the Republican Assembly Leader in a safe District with tons of special interest money backing me. I will vote any way and do whatever I want”.

    His honesty would be refreshing

  6. So, we’d say if it’s political issues you want, not the personal, what could be more of an issue than Cap and Trade, one of the most significant items to come before the legislature this year?

What could be more of an issue than the Assembly Republican leader having the opposition be able to hold something over his head in advance of the Cap and Trade vote?

What could be more significant an issue than seeing that leader go against the huge majority of his caucus and deliver enough GOP votes to pass the legislation, while also protecting some vulnerable Democrats to boot?

Maybe read some of the longtime staffers’ comments under this post about the realities of Sacramento…

But, if you still think his private life should be off limits, ok, but admit his ability to LEAD has been compromised by whatever caused him to cowtow on Cap and Trade.
