Seems like Tom Shepard is enjoying the word “shame” this election cycle. That was what they said on the television ad for Fletcher which they changed after a strong backlash.
This shows how desperate Sherry Hodges is. I heard her interview on AM 760 this morning and when they asked her about this hit piece she kept skirting the issue. They asked about her accomplishments and she couldn’t stay on topic. Sounded like she was reading a script.

Looks like Chavez and Douglas will be the victors in the Primary.
In a new district with no incumbent, it seems natural to me to look toward behavior as a demonstration of inward character.
Laws are there for a reason and we are electing representatives to legislate. How a candidate demonstrates integrity is by adhering to laws. Whether the law is financial, criminal, or simply a city ordinance does not make the breaking of it any less demonstrative.
It is shameful. And those who support Sherry have waited until the appropriate time to put out their signs. In this way, Douglas has taken an unfair advantage and is not concerned with any consequences. That is a demonstration of character.
Is that who you want representing the 76th district in Sacramento?
Trust and truth are the cornerstones of excellent government. Legislators who don’t operate transparently within these principles are the ones who have led California into the crisis it faces today. Our state is at a turning point, we do not have the luxury of time and error to elect someone who has a history of bad judgment and trust them to follow through with what they have committed to.
Sherry Hodges is the only one who has had the courage to speak up about these issues while others want to sweep them under the carpet for obvious reasons.
We need someone with the strength of character, good judgment and experience to build coalitions, balance the budget without raising taxes and rebuild a business-friendly environment in order to bring jobs back to California. That person is Sherry Hodges.
Sherry is committed to transparency and has the political courage to speak out on issues important to voters – despite criticisms. We need that kind of courage in Sacramento.

Sherry isn’t in this for California, she is in this for herself.

Shameful is a pretty strong word and now you are throwing it around too. I mean isn’t it shameful to spend thousands of dollars on a mailer for political office when there are starving babies all over the world?
You seem to be less concerned over the timing than you do with the UNFAIR ADVANTAGE? As far as I’m concerned, posting yard signs a few days early isn’t that big of a deal. Because… yard signs don’t vote.
You are whining about yard signs creating unfairness on an insiders blog. Your time would be much better spent calling actual voters or walking door to door or… pretty much anything else.

I listened to the Mike Slater Show this morning, as well, and I thought it was Farrah who was N-A-S-T-Y. Farrah lied when she called Sherry a liar for pointing out the FACT that she had switched back-and-forth from a Republican to a Democrat and back again. And, I thought it was Farrah who was evasive and off-message, resorting to name-calling and flatly refusing to answer why she had switched parties.
Frankly, I’m astounded by some of the comments on this blog. Now a vicious attack is questioning someone‘s party affiliation and voting record when they’re running for office? The hyper-defensive rhetoric is tiresome, Farrah and supporters. James, Beau, etc., if you’re going to speak for her, why don’t you answer for her, too.
I also saw Tom Arnold’s column today and thought it was interesting because he rounded out the article by plugging Sherry and outlining why she is such a good candidate. Sherry’s campaign is definitely not on its ‘dying breath.’ On the contrary, even Sherry’s detractors have to respect that she is a well-qualified and viable candidate in this race, as Arnold did. I believe that she is the best candidate.

Tom Arnold has done the voters a service by pointing out what the North County Times has failed to point out, namely that Sherry is “no slouch”, has “strong credentials” is a “viable candidate” and has “impressive support.” It’s a pity that he mentions only one of the several arguments against Farrah Douglas’s candidacy. If the North County Times had been doing its job, there wouldn’t have been a necessity for the Hodges campaign to send out the mailer.
Since when is it “nasty” to tell the truth about a candidate’s voter registration, financial history, and campaign associates? The local media haven’t bothered to look at Douglas’s claims in her mailer that she “balanced the budget” of Carlsbad. How is that possible?

I don’t recall saying I support Farrah. I’m Team James because Sherry has changed since her days on the school board.
My comment was targeted at the time you spent posting about the unfairness of putting up yard signs early.
If you really want Sherry to win, I would focus your efforts elsewhere. I’m sure she needs people to walk houses, make phone calls and to check under seat cushions for quarters (she spent 4x what she took in according to the last SOS report).
Or, you could wave from a highway overpass (I hear that works getting voters to the polls). Might be good to ask Chairbear, Kim, Melissa, etc to do the same.
