ALERT – Union Bosses Try to Invalidate San Diego Election on Pension Reform

In 2012 San Diego voters overwhelmingly voted to approve Prop B – the landmark Pension Reform Initiative that is credited with helping turn around the city’s financial crisis. Under Prop B, city employees would no longer receive bloated six-figure pensions – and instead would receive more affordable 401-K retirement accounts.

Unfortunately, the government union bosses refuse to accept the will of the voters. In fact, the union bosses are colluding with Sacramento politicians to invalidate the election results. In short, they falsely claim the voters do not have the right to use a ballot measure to reform pay and benefits of their members.

BILLIONS AT STAKE – AND OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!

If the Pension Reform Initiative is reversed, city taxpayers will face unknown financial liabilities of at least $100 million immediately, and billions long term. Worse, if the unions are able to hijack the citizens’ initiative process, California voters will see their right of citizens initiatives severely weakened for the first time in a century!

VOTERS WILL PREVAIL IN COURT – IF WE STAND UP FOR OUR VOTE!

This illegal move by the union bosses to invalidate the results of an election three years later shows complete arrogance and abuse of power. Lawyers across the spectrum agree that the move is illegal and will be laughed out of court. Unfortunately, the union bosses are trying to use political pressure to get politicians to simply overturn Prop B. The unions do not want the city attorney to defend Prop B in court.

San Diegans must speak up NOW and loudly to protect their constitutional rights to vote on reforms like Prop B!
