In a Progress Report with 4 weeks of petitioning  to go,  Jerry Sanders, Kevin Faulconer and Carl DeMaio expressed  quiet confidence last night in a Town Hall setting.  “This initiative finishes the job of transforming City government, with $100 million back into neighborhood services in just  one year.”  (Kevin Faulconer)…. “This measure will save $2 Billion over 25 years, invested in the City of the Future.”   (Carl DeMaio) ….”This measure polls well in Democratic and Republican households. The homes of San Diegans who live with their  Social Security and Private Sector 401k pensions ! ”   (Jerry Sanders).

Also participating was  Jon Coupal, who heads the 200,000+  members of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.  Coupal announced that HJTA had just made “another substantial donation” to the campaign to qualify the initiative.  Coupal predicted passage of the Pension Petition will be a Statewide and national bellwether.  Mr. Coupal said this fight will happen at the local level since the current state legislature of California is effectively ruled by labor unions on pension issues.  Tony Krvaric served as the genial Moderator during the event.
