Pensions help economy — like the Bloods and the Crips
Recently there have been a spate of “studies,” press releases and articles about how we all prosper from government pension fund investing and pensioners’ spending. Here’s my pithy response:

Actually, if the Crips and Bloods had good PR departments, they could put out similar and equally accurate “analysis” and press releases:
The titles could read something like this:
“Crips’ Thefts Stimulate Economy.”
“Bloods’ Blood Money Energizes Commerce”
A thief who steals someone else’s money and spends (or, indeed, invests) the funds is doing just as much for the economy as the taxes confiscated (under threat of force) for the benefit of our public employee aristocracy.

ENCINITAS—The Encinitas Taxpayers Association will host the San Diego County Taxpayers Association (SDCTA) as the SDCTA presents the findings of its watershed report on public employee pensions in San Diego County cities. Residents of Encinitas and other North County cities are encouraged to attend and learn more about the costs of their city’s employee pension obligations.

Harkey Named Vice Chair of PERSS Committee
SACRAMENTO – Assembly Republican Leader Martin Garrick, of Carlsbad, today announced that Speaker John A. Pérez has made changes to the leadership of Assembly policy committees, designating Assemblywoman Diane Harkey (R-Dana Point) as Vice Chair of the Assembly Committee on Public Employees, Retirement and Social Security (PERSS). Harkey will also serve on the Assembly Banking and Finance Committee.
