Any veteran of local government knows of Bob Filner’s proclivities. I’ve raised the issue a number of times with the press in “off the record” discussions over the years — the latest on the morning of the PM blockbuster announcement by the three Dem leaders.
Indeed, many of us personally know at least one woman who has suffered the “Filner experience.” The stories are legion. And not limited to his female employees.
But the Democrat Party (like the Catholic Church hierarchy) has covered up. Even when one of their own — a former Dem state Assemblywoman — brought forward that she knew SIX women who had suffered Filner indignities, they apparently ignored it. Here’s that story…

The local Democratic Party has known for a long time about sexual harassment allegations against Bob Filner, a former Democratic assemblywoman said in a Thursday interview.
“I blew the whistle on this two years ago to the Democratic Party leadership,” former Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña said.

Another mayoral wannabe pretending to be a righteous defender. Lets be clear, she learned first hand of sexual harassment and chose to report the unlawful conduct to the party chair and not law enforcement. In order to serve her own interests running for office, she was told to be silent. To serve her own benefit, she chose to be silent. Saldana deserves only our scorn for putting her self-interest ahead of the women who sought her aide.

Uhh, Doug — are you saying that there was no cover-up of the widespread pedophilia in the Catholic Church? To say anything about it is wrong? To “forgetaboutit”??
Perhaps we shouldn’t admit the existence of the Catholic Church torture chambers during the Inquisition? Or the incredible Muslim barbarity throughout the history of Islam?
The parallel is clear in my example — for years the hierarchy covered up wrongdoing. In each case, it was systemic.
The only objection I can think of that should be make would be one by Filner — as his transgressions, alarming as they are, pale into insignificance compared to pedophilia by priests.

But speaking of Star Chambers (yes, another Catholic institution of days gone by), that’s the modus operandi (I love using the One True Faith’s Latin) for modern collegiate judicial procedures involving “sexual harassment.”
But let’s not go there (well, for now, at least). ESPECIALLY not for MY beloved Star Chamber college.
