Nine days after announcing he would, he decided he won’t.
La Mesa Councilman Dave Allan said today he will not vie for the 79th State Assembly seat. “With my family commitments and my dad’s ill health, I’ve decided this is not the right time to run for Assembly,” he said.
Allan announced during a city council meeting last week he would seek the seat, as an independent, following stints as both a Republican and a Democrat.
Announced candidates for the seat include Chula Vista City Councilman Rudy Ramirez, former San Diego Unified Schools Trustee Shirley Weber, and activist Sid Voorakkara, all Democrats.

Barry:
On October 30, 2009, SD Rostra had a story about this
same candidate filing preliminary papers to run for
East County Supervisor, likely vs. Dianne Jacob.
http://sdrostra.com/?p=779 …. (I wrote that one.)
Then on Nov. 2, 2009 (three days later) you broke the
follow-up news that he would NOT run for County
Supervisor after all…. http://sdrostra.com/?p=815
Rostrafarians are invited to explain what (if anything)
these developments from 2009 and 2011 mean.
It baffles this observer!
Apparently, what it means is that I’m the guy he calls when he changes his mind.
La Mesa Patch also has the story, beat you by about 15 minutes…
