We make no bones that the mainstream media and others are covering the breaking Bob Filner news very nicely. We know you don’t need to come here to determine the latest.

So, other than what individual Rostra bloggers may write, we only have one brief reaction.

In the last speech he makes in his more than 30 year political career, unless he gives another in the next week, Filner proved only one thing…

He is one very sick bastard.

SAN DIEGO – Local Republican Party Chairman Tony Krvaric made the following statement after the San Diego City Council ratified the deal which enabled Democratic Mayor Bob Filner’s resignation today:

“On Inauguration Day, December 4, 2012 I predicted Mayor Filner would be ‘a disaster and an embarrassment’ because he did not have the temperament to be mayor of our great city and it was just a matter of time.”

“Mayor Filner’s failings were widely known. Had local union and Democratic leadership not looked the other way for crass political, ideological reasons, this sad chapter in our city’s history could have been avoided.”

“It is time to take back control of San Diego from union and big business interests which have dominated it for too long. Republicans stand ready to provide steady, pragmatic and fiscally prudent leadership in the mayor’s office focused on basic city services, neighborhoods and helping small business.”

Readers, please share your comments about the photo used in the post above of Filner and Richard Barrera. Any thoughts you may have?

  3. In response to the picture…

Our children’s future is in the hands of these people (and others like them).

  4. Tony,

The Republican Party plans to take the control of San Diego away from Big Business interests? LOL

  5. Dear Mr. Filner,

You are a troubled soul who honestly believes that the rules do not apply to you. Your denial of doing anything wrong and willingness to blame others only reinforces everything I have heard about your behavior is true. To apologize and then make the claim that you did nothing wrong, shows the hollowness of your apology. “For your part” as you stated, proves you simply do not get it. There is no other part, it is all your part.

The City Council did not “release a monster ” yesterday, they actually curtailed the ability of a self professed monster from being able to use his office as an avenue to continue his lack of respect for others and the law.

You claim you are the victim of a lynch mob, and imply that “false” allegations became facts and facts became evidence. Well once again, you fail to understand that allegations can only become facts and evidence if they are true. The number of “facts” against you are so numerous that you ” chose” to resign. Now you may claim it is because you cannot afford to defend yourself. Well the “process” allows you to open a committee to raise funds for your legal defense. You chose not to do this because the “facts” are true and politically insurmountable.

Yes, supposed lynch mob appears to include liberal Democrats such as Kamala Harris, the California Attorney General who is investigating you because of your actions and yours alone.

Now that you have the free time, I hope you get the long term therapy that you claimed you would and not focus on retribution on those who you blame for your downfall. The monster and the reason that forced you to resign can be seen in any mirror, just look into it!

    Sincerely,

One of the 70% San Diegans who demanded your resignation
