From San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Richard Barrera…
“It is with mixed emotions that I announce my intention to resign from my role as Secretary-Treasurer of the Labor Council. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I have had to work alongside each and every one of you to create a better future for the region’s working families.
“Effective February 1, 2016, I will join the team at the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 135 as successor to Rosalyn Hackworth, Executive Assistant and Secretary-Treasurer. In this role, I will have an opportunity to return to my organizing roots and help chart a path for the future of our labor movement. I see the potential for San Diego’s workers to build tremendous strength and power in the next decade by organizing powerhouse locals the way workers in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York have.”
