Many Republicans in California are pointing to the San Diego contingency as a model for the future of the national Republican Party, both on fiscal and social issues.
Larry talks with the head of that group, Tony Krvaric, about what they are doing right and where the party could be headed on topics such as gay marriage and immigration. Krvaric, an avid tweeter who is currently updating his followers about what he’s seeing on the ground in Tampa Bay, is a small business owner and financial consultant who describes himself as, “Croatian by blood, Swedish by birth and American by choice!”

Really, Tampa is not fun in the summer, I’m so glad there is a good message from a conservative voice from San Diego in Tampa to reach out to the folks – let’s concentrate on local races (Sac is done). Who’s in?
Ms Right has it right. We can influence local races. State district seats are mostly (but not ALL) Gerrymandered with the outcome preordained.
In addition to local candidate races, we should be active in the local AND CA state props. Democracy still functions in the initiative arenas, and the issues are often clear-cut.
Key points: Despite the Democrats having a clear voter registration advantage in the City of San Diego, (roughly 28% vs 38%) Republican issues have been resonating extremely well with voters.
Proposition D in 2010 the sales tax increase, defeated by almost a 2:1 margin. Proposition A, managed competition, passed easily in 2012 with 58%. Proposition B, pension reform, pass by almost a 2:1 margin in 2012.
