If the Democratic National Committee continues to broadcast their convention on television, I might just vote for Trump. I never “hated” Donald J. Trump, I hate the idea of a President Trump, especially as a Republican.
I don’t like that Trump fuses populist, center-left positions with the Republican Party: a federal minimum wage hike, initiating force on companies who want to move their businesses off shore, one-time support of taxpayer-funded universal health care, and the silly notion that illegal immigrants can be hunted down and deported. These are the kinds of positions I would expect to hear from Lyndon Johnson rather than a Republican Presidential nominee. I fear that Trump will destroy any influence the conservative movement has on Republican policy.
But I am an American first and I fear Hillary Clinton like no other candidate in my life time.
Jimmy Carter was wrong for his time. He let his anti-Israel bias cloud his thinking and gave Islamofascism a foothold there. Walter Mondale was such an amiable liberal that it was hard to believe he would be capable of tyranny. Same for Michael Dukakis. Bill Clinton came from nowhere, worried the former Reagan coalition, but appeased everyone by proving he could work with it. Al Gore was scary, with his totalitarian tendencies to rig the economy but I rarely worried about him blowing up the world. John Kerry seemed less interested in power than ideology so, while he is wrong on most every issue, he didn’t scare me. Even Barack Obama, as damaging as he has been for this country, is nothing more than a thin-skinned, ideological marxist with the inability to stand up against the minimum of opposition.
Hillary Clinton is an ammoral, corrupt, power hungry tyrant who is willing to lie, cheat, and steal her way to office. She has been accused of slut-shaming her husband’s paramours, hiding material evidence, compromising national security, insider trading, and in extreme theories, murder.
Donald Trump as President of these United States is a crazy, far-fetched fantasy that could only happen in the oddest of circumstances. The moon and stars would have to align just perfectly, an airborne drug would have to be released to lull the electorate into a stupor, and the media would have to be on his side…OR…..
Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic nominee facing him in November.
She is. God help us.

While Trump is not my ideal candidate, I am voting Trump. I am a Christian conservative but I am a realist. Trump has failed in a few business ventures but he was smart enough to pay off the Democrats in New York knowing that they can be easily influenced to help his business ventures. I can live with President Trump.
Hillary is a dumpster fire. Everything you say Brian about Hillary Clinton is accurate. How can anyone vote for Hillary? Hypocrisy, since you are taking the high road recently, will you support what Brian has written about Hillary? Probably not so I’d love to hear your spin on Hillary’s record of constant scandals.
Even the Bernie supporters at the DNC hate Hillary. It made my day to see Bernie supporters on the floor of the DNC chanting “Lock her up, lock her up!”. Even better were the Bernie supporters wearing “Hillary for Prison 2016”.

Can I count you as on board, Brian?
You can’t support Trump now, then try to wipe his stink off the Republican brand later, after he loses.
I want everyone on board. There can be no doubt for the next 20 years that this is The Party of Trump.
Own it. Embrace it. The manufactured fear bit is getting tired.

Brian – I’ve been to the Don Diego VFW Post at the corner of Evans and Logan. While I haven’t served, I honor those who have. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say, but I think you picked the wrong corner. Try again.
BTW – the difference between you and me is that when I learned what Filner was doing, I turned my back on him. You, as I’ve noted before, apparently lack that fortitude.
I’m looking forward to your endorsement of Comrade Trump.
Encinitas Dad: All these people were smart enough to say this while Hillary had power. Of course they meant all these platitudes, wink, wink. They’re not stupid. They wanted to live to see another day.
It is amusing and a little pathetic that you just gloss over the 30 years of Hillary Clinton scandals. But the American people are waking up. This national election is a massive backlash against the widely perceived corruption of the Establishment.
The leak of 20,000 DNC documents showed the American people that the Democrat primary was a rigged game. This established Hillary firmly in people’s minds as part of the perceived corrupt Establishment. The icing on the cake was the 20,000 DNC emails allegedly showing collusion by the DNC to deny Bernie the nomination. No way you can spin this ED.
Daniel,
Maybe you are right, but isn’t it a cynical view to believe that the leaders of your party are spineless liars, unwilling to stand up to evil when it has power?
Also, my Google must be broken, because I can’t find the same level of praise for President Obama, even though he has even more power.
If you are honest with yourself, in quiet reflection you’ll admit that there are only two basic ways to message in an election: promote the virtues of your candidate, or degrade the reputation of the opponent. As a practical matter, Republicans have little to work with on the former, so they must resort to the latter.
Unfortunately, the past statements of party luminaries who have actual experience working with Hillary Clinton in the Senate and as Secretary of State expose the false nature of their manufactured outrage.
You are being manipulated, friend.
Dan,
I would endeavor to support Clinton’s record to your understanding but I don’t think I can say it any better than Dick Cheney, Paul Ryan, Carly Fiorina, Orin Hatch, John McCain, Condi Rice, Lindsey Graham and Encinitas Dad did.
Hypocrisy: I can’t say it any better than the Bernie supporters at the DNC, “Lock her up, lock her up”.
By the way, Julian Assange is releasing more Democrat docs soon. Rumor is that this latest batch guarantees that she will indeed be locked up.
Here’s a deal for you, watch the short documentary “Clinton Cash” on Breitbart.com and let me know your thoughts. I will watch a short documentary of your choosing in return and let you know my thoughts.
How about it Hypocrisy, Encinitas Dad, and Paul?
Daniel, Breitbart is an extremely credible news source much like Fox news, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, O’keef and the the rest as long as you get to hear exactly what you want to hear. Joe McCarthy could probably get the GOP nomination these days. I’m no fan of Clinton or the DNC so once again I’m voting for the lesser of two evils . I haven’t seen “Clinton Cash” but I’m pretty sure it’s no different than “Nixon Cash” or “Bush Cash” or “Romney Cash”.
Dan,
I don’t think you ever read that I thought Hillary Clinton was a great person. In fact, with the exception of Joe Biden and the possible exceptions of both Presidents Bush, I can’t think of a single top level politician that I would be proud to call “friend.” That said, I am not looking for a friend. I am voting for a President and according to the words of many leading Republicans (at least before Clinton was a candidate), Mrs. Clinton is eminently qualified for that position.
As for recommending a video for you to watch, I doubt even a full-throated testimonial from Ronald Reagan or even Jesus Christ would change your opinion of any Democrat, so I will pass. I will ask for one favor though – pray tell what in Donald Trump’s history would lead you to believe that he is qualified to be the world’s most important and influential politician?
Paul and Hypocrisy, you are fearless facing down Brian, Eric, Richard and I on a regular basis. Show that same boldness now.
I made you an offer that has equal risks for each of us. Each of us learns something new about Hillary and Trump. I’m willing to take the risk. Why not you?
Since you both are solid in your voting for Hillary, the video “Clinton Cash” will be like water off a duck’s back. So why not watch it and give me your comments? Name a video for me to watch about Trump from your viewpoint and I’ll give you my comments.
Dan,
I will watch the video over the weekend but as I mentioned, I have never thought of Hillary or Bill Clinton as particularly good people anyway. I was, however, very satisfied with the direction of the country during Bill’s term and I think I will be equally satisfied if Hillary is elected.
I am still waiting for you to answer a question which doesn’t include watching an hour-long propaganda piece before you answer:
“pray tell what in Donald Trump’s history would lead you to believe that he is qualified to be the world’s most important and influential politician?”
Hypocrisy. I agree with you. I don’t see why anybody should vote for Trump. Of course I am content with my president to be potentially compromised through cyber blackmail by the Russians, the Wikileaks guy and God knows who else.
Chris,
In this day and age, everyone is potentially compromised through cyber blackmail. That being said, if your reason for supporting Trump is that he is not Hillary Clinton, I can accept that. I think it is a reason blunded by partisan hatred, but at least it is understandable. However, that was not the question I posed to Dan. I didn’t ask Dan why he was voting for Trump; I asked him what about Trump’s history makes him qualified to be the most important politician on the planet. Dan’s silence is more telling than any response he could have given.
Ok Dan, I watched the video. What specifically am I supposed to be outraged about? Should I be shocked that the Clintons dealt with slime bag dictators in a part of the wotld where there is no one else to deal with? Are you outraged that the Bush family is close friends with Saudi Royalty? Or should I be indignant that major political donors may have received favors from the State Department? Are you indignant about the Koch Brothers or do you believe that their donations are given without any expectation of anything in return? You should read “Dark Money.”
Are you ready now to answer the question I proposed to you?
Hypocrisy: You should have been outraged that the Hillary got $100’s of millions from 3rd world warlords that could have gone to feed starving children in Africa and Haiti. Instead she sold out and gave these corrupt warlords influence in the American government. Hillary sold herself to the big banks and Wall Street for $21 Million in speaking fees over 2 years. The banks own Hillary. Speaking of Russia, Hillary sold 20% of the American uranium supply to her good friend Putin for $145 million. Putin owns Hillary. No outrage?
The Koch Brothers are not contributing to Trump’s campaign. So I guess it means they get nothing from President Trump. No “Dark Money” .
I will take you at your word that you viewed Clinton Cash so I will make my case for Trump. What about Trump’s history? He has been a smart, successful businessman and knowing that Democrats can always be bought, gave them donations so he can do business. Smart, practical and can play the Democrats like a violin. I and millions of others like that. Good enough for me. I’m willing to give him a chance over Hillary whose life is one big scandal after another. Will he keep all his promises? No, but if he keeps half of them, America will be great again.
The national election is about an outsider Trump vs. the alleged corrupt establishment Hillary. I and millions of others like that he is upsetting the alleged rigged political establishment of Republicans and Democrats.
I like Trump because he’s a fighter and connects with what the average American wants. He calls out ISIS and will go after them and Islamic terrorists in the US with a vengeance. Trump is a law and order supporter. Cops love him. The average American wants law and order. Hillary sided with the BLM thugs and held up street rats like Michael Brown as heroes. Trump doesn’t apologize for America. Hillary and Obama sold out to the terrorists in Iran.
Even Peter Thiel, a successful gay Silicon Valley mover and shaker strongly supports him. Many gays like Trump because he strongly condemned the Islamic terrorist that killed gays in Orlando and encouraged them to arm themselves and defend themselves.
Lastly, I like that Trump will build the Wall and stop the flood of illegal aliens. I was raised in La Puente, a bad gang area near LA, and have had illegal alien friends all my life. I like and sympathize with them. But I and many Americans like that Trump understands that the illegal aliens take billions of $$$ from American citizens. They take many jobs that should go to Black teenagers. The Black teenage unemployment is 45% because the illegals take these jobs. Go to the 4 corners of death in San Diego and see for yourself.
Many Americans like I are furious that illegals can waltz into any emergency room and get FREE medical care while veterans wait and die at VA clinics. Trump will cut off the money. Despite laws to the contrary, many illegals get Section 8 FREE housing, welfare, and food stamps. Trump will put American citizens first and cut off the gravy train from the illegal aliens. Trump will strongly support E-Verify so the illegal aliens will self-deport when their jobs go away.
You shouldn’t have opened Pandora’s Box Hypocrisy. Trump is resonating with Americans who know that Hillary is a 3rd Obama term and 65% of them don’t like the direction America is heading.
Dan,
I wouldn’t even know where to start in my response to that rant of lies and half-truths (“Hillary sold uranium to Putin, Third World Warlords gave Hillary 100’s of millions of dollars”), so I won’t.
Obviously, nothing is going to make you support Hillary, but it would be nice to read at least one criticism of Trump from you. Maybe you could at least condemn his comments about a Gold Star mother.
Hypocrisy: You wanted to know why I supported Trump. It’s OK if you disagree. That’s what a Constitutional Republic is all about. What in my remarks above were lies and half-truths? Where’s your proof? By the way, Clinton Cash had over 500,000 views by Democrats during the DNC and was the most viewed video by delegates at the DNC. Feel the Bern.
I personally would not have gone after the Gold Star Muslim mother and father. Trump could have handled it a better way. But why were they attacking Trump? What did he ever do to them?
As it turns out, the Muslim father is no innocent but affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. He’s also a lawyer who specializes in bringing Muslims into the US.
The sly Democrats did a good job in deflecting attention away from Hillary’s record. If she runs on her record, she loses. Read the research done by shoebat.com, Caldean conservatives, on Mr. Khan.
http://shoebat.com/2016/07/31/what-the-media-is-not-telling-you-about-the-muslim-who-attacked-donald-trump-he-is-a-muslim-brotherhood-agent-who-wants-to-advance-sharia-law-and-bring-muslims-into-the-united-states/
Have a nice week Hypocrisy.
Dan –
I read your article, I wish I could get that ten minutes back. I can’t imagine what dark corners of the internet your minds takes you to. That said, I’ll only ask you about this section :
“Muslims in general wanted a war in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan where Islamists clearly participated in such wars with U.S. aid since the time of Ronald Reagan. If Khan wanted his son’s life preserved he would avoid such wars and will stand with Trump, pure and simple, unless of course, the U.S. was clearing the runway for a greater cause, a cause we have seen brewing for decades which needs no evidence here on how Islamists do not mind collaborating with the U.S. To each his agenda.”
Do you agree with the author that our soldiers who fought and died in Afghanistan and Iraq had it coming to them? Shame.
Daniel,
Lies:
1. Hillary sold uranium to Putin – I doubt that Hillary owns any uranium.
2. Putin owns Hillary – I would say that it at least appears like Putin wants Trump to win.
3. Third World warlords gave Hillary 100’s of millions of dollars. Again, if true (doubtful), you are confusing the Clinton Foundation with Hillary Clinton
4. The banks own Hillary – Document one vote she had that would lead you to that conclusion.
Half-Truth
1. Illegal Aliens take $billions from American Taxpayers – That is only one side of the coin. Illegal aliens also pay taxes (income, payroll, sales and in some cases, even property taxes). Many studies have showed that undocumented immigrants create a net positive to the taxpayer. Admittedly some show the opposite.
Thank you for at least sort of admitting that Trump might have done something wrong. That is more than Mr. Trump has ever done.
Have a great week too and remember that we are both Americans who want what is best for our country. We are should be allowed, even encouraged, to disagree on what that is.
I’ll do a more detailed response later Hypocrisy. But for now, more about Hillary and her good Russian friend Putin:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-clinton-foundation-state-and-kremlin-connections-1469997195
Hillary selling out America?! Say it ain’t so!
There are many problems I have with Trump. There are many reasons why I support Trump. As a young YAFer I was drilled with the principle that Republicans fall in line after the primary. Because the alternative is worse. Hillary is not Joe Lieberman or Evan Baugh. You find something you like about the candidate and go with him. I liked Kasich, now I like Trump. We are Republicans. We may disagree but we fall in line.
The activist side of me likes Trump in that I am convinced that a reckoning with the lamestream media will happen the likes that Republicans have only dreamed about.
Chris: Good thoughts. The establishment Republicans don’t like Trump and won’t support Trump. But is that even relevant in California? Republican registration has been going down for years. Is it because people don’t see that establishment elected Republicans are fighting for them and making a difference for their lives?
I think Trump is a LOT more popular than the establishment Republicans will admit. Hillary is the 3rd term of Obama, 69% of Americans in polls don’t like or trust Hillary, and 65% of Americans don’t like the direction of the country. Trump’s message is popular with a LOT of working class Democrats, and DTS people. 650,000 Democrats and DTS re-registered Republican to vote for Trump in Pennsylvania in the primary.
A very interesting sign of the times. The Republicans working the registration booth at the San Diego County Fair were surprised at the long lines of people wanting to get their picture taken with the life-sized Donald Trump photo. They saw genuine enthusiasm for Trump. Many were admitted Democrats and DTS. Trump is VERY popular with the average person. Put aside your ego and differences and support Trump. I’m willing to take a chance with Trump. All Republicans should also.

“The banks own Hillary – Document one vote she had that would lead you to that conclusion.”
TARP
Brian,
TARP? So the entire Democratic Party (and a few Republicans) are owned by the banks?
No, Hillary got ALL the $21 Million in “inducements for favorable decisions and access to government”, oh, my bad, “speaking fees”, over the last 2 years. It would have been nice if she had left a few shekels for the rest of the Democrats.
This screams RICH ESTABLISHMENT TOOL to the average American. Feel the Bern.
Dan –
So you’re going to stand on Walid Shoebat’s assertion that the men and women who died serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan should have “avoid[ed] such wars”?
Daniel and Brian,
You do realize that all of those paid speeches were given AFTER she was a Senator and Secretary of State.
