Since August of 2009, when SD Rostra launched, the site has been blessed with over 1,700 individual blog entries from our more than 50 contributors, covering a host of issues, opinions, rumors and breaking political news stories. At this writing, exactly 4,976 comments have been posted as a result … and that’s just the legit ones, mind you.
We don’t pretend to be huge, or to inflate our numbers based on commercially-ad-driven, seconds-long hits from visitors that will never return. We pride ourselves on being a go-to site for the San Diego-area politically motivated and those following local politics.
We love the fact that those in the mainstream media so often use our content as a resource … and hate that they seldom dare to give us any credit.
Of course we don’t gain the number of comments that a Union-Trib does on its online stories, but have you ever read any of those? There’s something to be said for quality vs. quantity, as well as the ability to effectively moderate the comment discussion. A sometimes heated, usually fun and mostly worthwhile discussion, in our humble opinion.
Our mission of providing a center-right forum for opinion, political news and discussion will continue.

Wow! Is there a swell prize for this, or just bragging rights?
Bragging rights at the least, unless someone wants to offer up something else of value. Maybe one of your SD Press Club awards, since you surely don’t have enough wall space for all of them, nor do you need that many flotation devices.
