In an effort to promote clean energy, the White House announced 11 new projects that will accelerate innovation in clean energy technologies for California-based companies using taxpayer’s stimulus money.

The companies were selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to receive $22 million for research projects that aim to improve how the U.S. uses and produces clean energy.

The announcement came from Department of Energy, Secretary, Steven Chu, and the Department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) which is awarding a total of $92 million from the Stimulus Act. 1. How many were in San Diego? It would be good to know the names of local companies that may be hiring. Incidentally a lot of these green companies relocating or expanding in SD credit AB 32 as the incentive to do so. The real “job killer” would be the initiative to repeal AB 32.

  2. For every job “created” in California because of AB 32, we’ll lose 10 jobs. Or maybe 100. Of course, the AB 32 supporters will proudly point to each job created, and somehow overlook the scores of jobs lost.

Oddly enough, many of the green jobs AB 32 will create will not be created in California.

It costs 38% more to build solar panels in California than in Tennessee – which is why European corporations have invested $2.3 billion in two Tennessee manufacturing plants to build solar panels — for delivery to our state. http://tinyurl.com/llussb

Note the difference in the numbers. $22 million in stimulus funds from the feds for all of California, vs. a single $2.3 BILLION of productive private investment in Tennessee.

If the Obama stimulus money creates 5 jobs in San Diego, I’ll be surprised.

And remember, we taxpayers will pay the interest on the $22 million federal bogus stimulus — FOREVER. It’s now part or our burgeoning national debt.
