With Governor Gavin Newsom recently signing two horrific pieces of legislation, AB495 and AB727, many local school board leaders are taking steps to fight back.
Santee School District Trustee Tracie Thill shares a video and says she plans to “fight these bills in my district to protect our kids and maintain parental rights.”
Below the video are Thill’s recommendations.
What Parents Can Do Right Now
- Start with your own school. Make sure your district knows — only the people listed on your child’s emergency contact list have permission to remove your child from campus. Put it in writing. Demand confirmation. No exceptions.
- Refuse to use The Trevor Project’s resources. Ask your district to use verified county or school-based mental health programs instead — not outside websites like TrevorSpace that expose kids to online predators.
- Contact your State Assemblymember and State Senator. Demand the repeal or amendment of AB727 and AB495. Tell them parents will not stand by while the state undermines their role.
- Share this message everywhere. Post it, email it, talk about it at PTA and board meetings — make sure every parent in your community knows what these bills do.
- Stand with organizations defending parental rights. Support the local and statewide groups fighting for families, transparency, and the protection of children in California schools.

To tell the truth, I have never agreed with Weiner’s public ideas of which I have read.
