Budget deal a classic example of the GOP’s tone deafness — Trump’s response

Why the Republican establishment is being rejected…

If there was any question about the relevance of the Republican Party, this week’s budget deal removes all doubt. The Republican Party might as well close up shop and merge with the Democrats. Not as a merger of equals, but more of a capitulation, a surrender, a sellout. There is no need for two parties in Washington DC as only one party is relevant in terms of advancing an agenda. The irony is that the agenda driving party is in the minority and despite losing badly in two midterm elections, the Democrats are still running Congress.

“Another 2000-plus page bill passed by Congress with little transparency or discussion. You mean ObamaCare? No Paul Ryan’s $1.1 trillion spending bill, his first major legislative “achievement” as House Speaker.”

Why Trump is leading in presidential polling…

(New York, NY) December 17, 2015 – “If anyone needed more evidence of why the American people are suffering at the hands of their own government, look no further than the budget deal announced by Speaker Ryan. In order to avoid a government shutdown, a cowardly threat from an incompetent President, the elected Republicans in Congress threw in the towel and showed absolutely no budget discipline.

The American people will have to absorb higher deficits, greater debt, less economic liberty and more corporate welfare. Congress cannot seem to help itself in bending to every whim of special interests. How can they face their constituents when they continue to burden our children and grandchildren with debts they will never be able to repay? Our government is failing us, so we must do something about it. Who knows how bad things will be when the next administration comes in and has to pick up the pieces?

The only special interest not being served by our government is the American people. It is time we imposed budget discipline by holding the line on spending, getting rid of waste, fraud and abuse, and by taking on our debt. To do these things, we need a President who can lead the fight to hold Congress and the rest of government accountable. Together, we can Make America Great Again.”

  1. “It is time we imposed budget discipline by holding the line on spending, getting rid of waste, fraud and abuse, and by taking on our debt.”

Wonder how many times I’ve heard that? The Donald just says it with a silly New York accent (and a few insults).

  2. From Dana Rohrabacher…

Last week I joined with 112 of my colleagues, both Republicans and Democrats, in voting against the $1.1 Trillion spending package that, after being signed into law by President Obama, will fund the federal government through next September. If Congress wanted to address even a few of the major challenges America faces, this was the time and legislative vehicle to do it. Instead we chose the path of least resistance and let our economic and security concerns fester yet another year.

Below is a summary of why I voted against the bill.

    All the Best,

    Dana

Why I voted against the 1.1 Trillion Omnibus Bill:

    HUGE SPENDING INCREASES

The bill lifts spending caps we voted on in the House last year and increases government spending next year by $50 billion. As long as the federal government keeps shoveling money into failing programs, things will keep getting worse. Ever higher levels of spending means no one has an incentive to do things more efficiently and money that should go to the vital services that only the federal government can do are wasted on responsibilities that should be handled by State and local government, or by the American people themseleves.

    NATIONAL SECURITY LOOPHOLES

One of the most objectionable elements of The Omnibus bill is that it funds President Obama’s refugee resettlement program, allowing for not only the admission of tens of thousands of Muslim refugees, but also gives them scarce taxpayer benefits that should be going to American citizens (including those who immigrated here legally). As Senator Jeff Sessions stated, ” The omnibus would put the U.S. on a path to approve admission for hundreds of thousands of migrants from a broad range of countries with jihadist movements over the next 12 months, on top of all the other autopilot annual immigration.”

    GOVERNMENT ATTACK ON INTERNET FREEDOM

Imbedded in the bill was CISA (Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act), a law which would, according to Wired.com, give “companies the ability to share cybersecurity information with federal agencies, including the NSA, ‘notwithstanding any other provision of law.’ That means CISA’s information-sharing channel, ostensibly created for responding quickly to hackers and breaches, could also provide a loophole in privacy laws that enabled intelligence and law enforcement surveillance without a warrant.” As such, this represents the worst privacy invasion by the federal government since the Patriot Act (which I also voted against). Furthermore, the bill does not include a funding prohibition to prevent the FCC from implementing Net Neutrality, which would pave the way to the Government censoring the Internet.

    FUNDS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

The Bill funds DACA, President Obama’s 2012 executive amnesty for “DREAMers, ” giving taxpayer benefits and work permits to illegal aliens who came here as minors. It also funds Sanctuary Cities for illegal aliens. The bill also funds President Obama’s resettlement of illegal immigrant border crossers. This has already resulted in thousands more children winding up on our border. Why would any poor person around the world not send their kids here for us to take care of?
    QUADRUPLES H-2B FOREIGN WORKER VISAS

The Bill quadruples H-2B foreign worker visas, increasing the number from 66,000 to as many as 250,000, allowing businesses to deny jobs to American workers and flooding the already jobless market with cheaper foreign labor. This hurts most those Americans struggling to get by rather than go on welfare.

    FUNDS IMF BAILOUTS

Crony Capitalism at its worst. The bill Increases support of taxpayer funded bailouts of irresponsible countries by the International Monetary Fund. The money ends up going to big banks and multinational financial institutions

GOVERNMENT CONTROL OVER ALL WATERS IN THE U.S.

The bill fails to defund the EPA’s Waters of the U.S. initiative that vastly expands the EPA’s jurisdiction over waters in the United States.

    DELAYS OBAMACARE “CADILLAC TAX”

This reduces Obamacare revenues without reducing Obamacare costs, shifting the burden from the unions to the taxpayers.
