SACRAMENTO, CA – In today’s “Are You Kidding Me?” segment, Assemblyman Jones (R-Santee) says concern is still warranted about Covered California hiring convicted felons. Investigative reports from January 2014 uncovered felons convicted of financial crimes were hired by California’s Healthcare Exchange, Covered California. Some of the employees were convicted of crimes such as welfare fraud, forgery, shoplifting and burglary.
Assemblyman Jones said, “Of course, people who have served their debt to society deserve a second chance, but in this day of rampant identity theft, giving someone convicted of financial crimes access to private information is like giving a burglar the keys to your home.”
