Proposition 13, which was passed by the voters on June 6, 1978, has kept the government from taxing homeowners right of out of their homes and has created long-term stability. 36 years later, it continues …to protect us from being at the mercy of a government that has a spending problem.
Prop 13 means that there will be no wild fluctuation in property taxes, which gives each family the opportunity to achieve the American Dream of homeownership. It is estimated that Prop 13 has saved homeowners an estimated $528 billion in property taxes.
Democrats continue to take steps to dismantle Prop 13, even though polls have shown that voters overwhelmingly still support this stability. Join with me to make sure the Legislature upholds Proposition 13 – it’s worth fighting for.
