  1. We’ve already been questioned on our Facebook page, with “No one is proposing that as a new American flag. Are you seriously trying to make it seem like that?”

Seriously? Did we say anyone was proposing it as the American flag? . You can’t see it as belittling of the American flag, to use the design and colors as “artistry” for any political candidate, or any party? You must be kidding.

The words the “New American Flag” were ours, to make a point…we don’t actually think the designers of this “art” are proposing is as such. We just believe they lack respect for the real flag.

  2. And Thor’s Assistant said, “we,” “we,” “we,” all the way home.

Don’t be shocked when you say something meant solely to create controversy and it does exactly that.

Romney probably just hasn’t stocked his red white and blue Atlas Shrugged flag in his store yet.

  3. I was the one who questioned this ridiculous post and my response was:

Um, there are significant differences between that and the American Flag. Particularly the fact that the American flag has 13 stripes and thate one has 5. Also the American Flag is a rectangle, this is the shape of the continental U.S.

Are you now saying that the tea party has a problem with anyone using similar (though significantly different) colors and patterns? The blue is completely different and so is the red.

Now if you were mad about that…. perhaps this one must have made you irate!

I mean the Romney ‘R’ looks like an upside down French Flag, how dare he use a French Flag as the template for the artistic representation of the first letter of his name in an American Presidential campaign! That is anti-American! Right? Surely you can see the logical failure there.

So because I like the print, and I support Obama, by your logic, I don’t respect the American Flag?

That would be an interesting logical leap considering I am a U.S. Marine war veteran.

  4. And our FB discussion continued…

We don’t like anyone, including the tea party, using the flag in a manner other than it’s intent. Any rational person can see that the pattern of the O flag is purposeful to be like the design of the U.S. flag. Yes, only five stripes instead of 13. Are you saying you don’t believe it’s patterned after the U.S. flag. Really? LOL. — Oh, we see, the Michael Crimmins argument: I’m a Marine veteran, so therefore I’m 100 percent right all the time.
    ____

Don’t take it personally. No, we don’t believe you are disrespectful of the flag.

I will speak for myself, as the Rostra admin on duty today, but I bet the other admins agree. I’m mad about anyone misrepresenting the flag, including the tea party. They may believe — as constitutiionalists — they are “above it all” in changing the flag for their purposes. They’d be wrong. -Greg Larkin

  5. Apparently, democrab hasn’t ever seen an unsigned newspaper editorial, in which it is “we,” meaning the ed board and/or the ownership. Yes, we if we want to, because we own this blog, not y’all.

WE see now that Michele Malkin noted the Obama Flag first. OUI, WE are proud to follow her in mentioning it.

  6. No, I’ve never seen such a newspaper editorial!

I also didn’t realize that it took an entire editorial board to write such a throwaway post. I assume that all the unseen effort was put into paring the fake outrage down to 13 words — to symbolize each stripe on the American flag?

Of course, since we have a NEW American flag, all of your effort was for naught.

Seriously, though, I just found it amusing that you used the first person plural so many times, when the post was clearly written and defended by one (obviously bored) person.

  7. This is what the GOP campaign for the white house has come to? They are losing at every turn. They have a candidate who cant speak without inserting his foot into his giant mouth. They cant relate to the average American. So they come out with this “Obama is desacrating the flag” garbage. As I pointed out on Twitter to no response from @sdrostra, that awful president Abe Lincoln also desecrated the flag during his campaign http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/c0.0.403.403/p403x403/223122_10151075358420847_1732335835_n.jpg

And the Tea Party has also taken liberties. But pointing out those facts clearly is not convenient for a desparate campaign.

  8. Yep, that cheapens the flag too. I haven’t found anything yet showing the Romney store is selling it, unlike the Obama store. I assume individuals will cheapen the flag for profit. I’d like to think presidential campaigns are above it.

  9. More conspiracy theories from the Rostra crew. Puh-lease. every time you post something you make yourself look more and more foolish, just like your candidate. Just quit while you are ahead. Pretty telling that there are PLENTY of Romney flag shirts still available, huh?

  10. More? What, noting that buzzfeed is claiming the flag is no longer available, then Rostra even saying it appears to still be. Yep, now THERE’s a conspiracy.

Crew? Every blogger here has his/her own opinion. The “crew” may disagree with that of the other bloggers. The traditional journalists that constantly try to mold Rostra into how they want the world to be will never get it.

Speaking of More: More skivvies in a twist over a legit conversation about use of the flag. Funny.
