Dubious recipients revealed at Golden Watchdog & Golden Fleece Awards Dinner May 16
(San Diego) – The San Diego County Taxpayers Association (SDCTA) today announced the finalists for its annual Golden Fleece Awards categories including Metro and Regional Fleeces, and Repeat Offenders.
Golden Fleeces are given to government programs/services that exemplify the wasteful, inefficient or downright absurd use of taxpayer dollars.
The dubious recipients of these awards will be “honored” along with the winners of the Golden and Media Watchdog, Public-Private Partnership, and “It’s About Time” awards at SDCTA’s annual dinner at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center in Mission Valley on Wednesday, May 16.
Now in its 17th year, the Goldens give the public an opportunity to voice kudos and criticism of government spending through nomination of programs that highlight the smart and not-so-smart decisions of the past year. SDCTA receives dozens of nominations from individuals and organizations throughout San Diego County.
This year’s dinner theme is “Taxpayer TV: You can’t make this $#!% Up!” Expect the now infamous video skits on the theme featuring San Diego County elected officials, community leaders, news media, and other well-known faces. Throw away the remote for this one!
