Bilbray campaign’s reaction to the U-T San Diego endorsement
Today, Congressman Brian Bilbray was proudly endorsed by the U-T San Diego Editorial Board over his opponent Scott Peters.
According to the Editorial Board, Congressman Brian Bilbray “knows the path we must follow on those paramount issues of the debt, the deficit, economic growth and fostering the innovation economy that is so crucial to San Diego.”
It later went on to say that Congressman Brian Bilbray’s leadership in creating jobs was, “critical to the small-business owners” of his district.
As a member of congress, Brian Bilbray understands that creating jobs and jumpstarting the economy is critical to restoring the American dream, whereas his opponent, Scott Peters’ most infamous accomplishment is nearly bankrupting the city’s pension system.
Throughout this campaign, Scott Peters has tried desperately to hide his fraudulent past from the voters of San Diego. After careful consideration, the Editorial Board called Scott Peters “negligent” for his role in underfunding the city’s pension that ultimately led to San Diego losing its pristine credit rating.
The Editorial Board went on to say that “Peters was identified as one of five council members who were negligent in voting in 2002 to intentionally underfund the city pension fund while at the same time increasing pension benefits – a decision that played a major role in the City Hall financial crisis of the past decade.”
“Throughout my career, I have always defined myself as a leader who is willing to work across the aisle in order to create sustainable clean jobs that will help restore our economy,” said Congressman Brian Bilbray. “With your help, we can foster an economic climate that is both clean and vibrant.”
