This year’s list of Golden Watchdog Award and Media Watchdog Award finalists is out from the San Diego County Taxpayers Association (full disclosure: SDCTA is one of my public relations firm’s clients). On behalf of San Diego Rostra, we congratulate all the nominees. A full list is available here.

We take particular pride in one of our OWN being on the list: Rostra’s Barry Jantz is nominated for a Media Watchdog Award for his October 14, 2010 story, “Sweetwater Schools Using Public Funds to Promote Ricasa During Re-Election?” Nicely done and well earned!

We encourage you to review the list and personally congratulate the nominees. Better yet, attend the swell May 19 awards dinner and cheer them on.  No poliwonk worth the title misses the biggest political event of the year. This year’s theme is “San Diego’s Hangover,” and the evening’s much anticipated parody videos will be based on the movie of the same name (with the sequel due out the week following the awards event). The videos will be well worth the price of admission and talked about for months. Trust the Libertarian Lass on this one.

So in SDCTA’s version of the story, who will be waking up with that wedding ring on without a clue how it got there, hmm?

NEXT: Golden Fleece Nominees will be announced May 12. Hide the knives and narcotics.
