Tuesday night, Donald Trump was interviewed by Sean Hannity of Fox News. Trump informed Hannity that if the Republicans do not nominate a strong enough candidate, he himself will run as an Independent since “Obama must be stopped.”
Last week, on The O’Reilly Factor, Trump said something similar but at that time he only claimed he “might” run. Even Trump’s “maybe” concerned me very much, partly because it could repeat the Ross Perot fiasco which ended up putting Bill Clinton in office, and partly because many conservatives seem unaware that even though Trump often talks like a conservative, he is actually a loose cannon who could say anything at any time. Unfortunately, such tidings of bad cheer were lost between Weiner Gate and the lead up to the GOP debate. I did, however, write a column last Saturday about how Trump’s ego could end up being a very serious threat to a pleasant 2012 outcome. I invite you to read this piece on Washington Times Communities, entitled:
