SD Rostra can report there are now eight candidates running for three “open seats” on the San Diego Superior Court. (In 44 other offices, incumbents are unopposed .) Here are the names and who they will try to succeed … OFFICE 24 (William Kronberger retires): Terrie Roberts, David Berry … OFFICE 25 (William Cannon retires): Jim Miller, George Schaefer, Robert Amador, Daniel Zolezzi … OFFICE 34 (Frank Brown retires): Gary Kreep, Garland Peed.
The voting is COUNTYWIDE and will take place as part of the June 5, 2012 state primary election.
If no 0ne gets an outright 50 percent + 1 majority in the June primary, the top two finishers advance to a November runoff (a scenario which is possible for Office 25). In fact, Jim Miller, Jr. , one of the Office 25 hopefuls, battled his way through a similar primary in 2010 before losing the November showdown. It is often said, “Run once to become known, run the second time to win.” Will that adage work for Jim Miller Jr. in 2012 ? Stay tuned!
