A resolution is on the Chula Vista City Council agenda for today under councilmembers comments titled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AFFIRMING WORKERS RIGHTS.

There will probably be a big showing of union support. News cameras will be there to get people’s reactions and interview Castaneda.
Our city council is what it is and it is what we have until we change it through elections. This resolution is an answer by Councilman Castaneda to unions’ and Democrat’s national call for city councils to do these kind of resolutions. If you do not agree with four councilmembers writing resolutions that speak for you that include:
“WHEREAS, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is attacking the rights of public workers and teachers to engage in collective bargaining, while proposals in Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Alabama and other states seek to take away the rights of workers and weaken unions by banning union shops…”
Then you need to let our elected city officials know what you think. I spoke with the City Clerk today. She said that the public and other council members will have the opportunity to speak about the resolution and that it will either be voted on as is, be amended by the council during discussion or be postponed. Our city council should be concerning themselves with Chula Vista issues and not what Gov. Walker or any other state is doing. This is the second time our council has made a resolution sticking their noses into other state’s business (the first was Arizona). We need to let our council know that we expect them to take care of Chula Vista business and not waste our time, money and energy on other state’s affairs.
