Trump should thank Cruz

by Adam Abrahms

For all the lemmings who are claiming Ted Cruz broke a pledge or somehow advocated voting for someone other than Donald Trump, he did neither.

He did not pledge to endorse, he pledged to support the nominee. Even though the nominee attacked his wife and basically accused his father of treason, Cruz did his duty as a Republican and conservative — he supported the nominee.

He spoke of constitutional principles, freedom, what was at stake, and told people to go out and work for our shared values and vote their conscience.

So if you claim he violated his pledge and that his speech was not supportive it must mean you think Trump doesn’t share our values and principles, and that any conservative with a conscience would not vote for Trump.

If this election is about America’s future and not about a billionaire’s narcissistic need to hear one more person say his name, Trump should thank Cruz, embrace the principles and make the case that one’s conscience should lead them to him.

Abrahms is a conservative activist, attorney, and former Regional Vice-Chairman of the California Republican Party.
