Two years ago Tony Strickland won the toughest State Senate race in California. He prevailed over an undefeated human dynamo named Hannah Beth Jackson in the 19th district, based in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Strickland won that race by 800 votes out of almost 420,000 cast! The race was not settled till the day before Thanksgiving.
After that experience, some Republican office-holders would have moved to the center, downplayed their beliefs and tried to win over Sacramento interest groups.
NOT Tony Strickland, however.
Look at his “grades” from Sacramento watchdog groups for his
first year in the California State Senate:
Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assn……………… “A”
Calif. Republican Assembly………………..94 %
Planned Parenthood………………………… 0 %
CA Chamber of Commerce………………..92 %
Calif. AFL-CIO………………………………….4 %
Tony Strickland did not check his principles at the door when he moved to the Upper House. If he is elected the State Controller next week, you can expect the same kind of integrity.
Among conservative activists, there should be no hesitation about enthusiastically backing Tony Strickland for the office of State Controller.
