Good news this week on two fronts for conservative Talk radio in southern California.
(1) Roger Hedgecock picks up a prestigious Los Angeles station for his syndicated show, as KFWB am-980 now carries him live from 3 to 6 pm. Getting a top station in a new major media market is a break-through for the “Radio Mayor”.
(2) KFI drive time hosts John & Ken add a 5th hour to their must-listen program, now running 2 to 7 pm at am 640. Though LA-based, they have a large audience in San Diego, and their listeners throughout southern California have made them major players in State politics.
During the battle over tax-raising Prop. 1A this Spring, Governor Schwarzenegger famously asked, “Who is running this state, the Governor, or John & Ken?” When Prop. 1A lost 65% to 35% , John & Ken were given much of the credit/blame for the outcome.
John & Ken also added a northern California element this week when they started a simulcast on Oakland’s am-910.
With Rick Roberts at KFMB, am 760, and Mark Larson, Rick Amato and Gayle Falkenthal at KCBQ am-1170, news-based Talk Radio is looking up again !
