I’m thankful this Christmas that Senator Joel Anderson is a legislator and not an insurance agent. I am an insurance agent. I don’t need nor do I want the
I am used to attending political events with thirty-five to a hundred people. I am not used to attending them with three thousand.
Last week’s Open House at Toyota of El Cajon reminded me that the Senator from East County does things big. With four thousand R.S.V.P.s and over three thousand in attendance, the event attracted four hundred more than last year while party registrations are declining.
Fifty interns welcomed and escorted us to shuttles (yes, they needed shuttles), check-in tables and a forty-five minute receiving line to greet the Senator. A line that lasted the entire evening. I personally spoke with persons who traveled from Mission Viejo and Murrieta, and heard of another who travelled from Imperial County.
I have attended some large political events in the past couple of years. The State of the County on the U.S.S. Midway comes to mind, but that was hosted by all five of our Supervisors.
Dear Santa, I have been a good boy. Please keep the Senator in Sacramento and out of my line of work — and the U.S.S. Midway docked in the harbor.
