Generally, the board of San Diego Tax Fighters chooses to dwell on issues rather than candidates. But there are times when we make candidate endorsements – sometimes reluctantly, but endorsements nevertheless.
It must be pointed out that we may still make additional recommendations before the June election – especially in the little known nonpartisan races. We will consider constructive feedback from fiscally frugal sources.
In the June primary, we reviewed some GOP options to pick the best the party had to offer. Our endorsements are based on FISCAL matters – not on social conservative issues. We avoided endorsing in races where the outcome is not in doubt.
These primary endorsements are NOT necessarily our November endorsements. After all, some of us are Libertarians.
GOP RACE ENDORSEMENTS
U.S. Senate: None (after a, uh, “spirited” discussion)
Governor: None (yet)
Lt. Governor: Sam Aanestad (running against GOP turncoat/low life Abel Maldonado)
Attorney General: John Eastman
Insurance Commissioner: Anybody but Mike Villines (another GOP turncoat who lied when he pledged not to raises taxes while in the state legislature)
AD 77: Bill Wells
SD 36: Joel Anderson
NONPARTISAN RACE ENDORSEMENTS
Yes, we’ve considered the sheriff’s race and the county races. No clear-cut preferences were found.
With the County Supervisors, perhaps not voting in those races is the best choice (the challengers were uninspiring, to put it mildly). When it comes to the outcome, it matters not, as our Supervisors have a lock on lifetime reelection, baring convictions of serious felony charges.
Chula Vista City Council: Larry Breitfelder
San Diego City Council: Lorie Zapf, Adrian Vazquez
San Diego Unified School District: Steve Rosen (appears to be an exceptionally good choice)
