Poway: Game On!

As I post this, Councilmember Betty Rexford recall proponents led by Steve Vaus are announcing at the Poway City Council meeting that they have collected about 2,200 of the 5,657 petition signatures required to qualify for the ballot.  This is with only 30 days elapsed of the 120 days allowed in which to collect signatures.

These are raw numbers, but recall proponents indicate that their internal check of the petitions shows an extremely high rate of qualified registered Poway voters.  The number of signatures collected thus far is striking, given the organizing time spent in the first two weeks of the process.

More than 500 signatures were collected in the last four days alone.  Vaus calls these “first quarter stats” the result of a “well-oiled machine,” with large street teams planned in the weeks ahead.

You can do the math, but at this rate the proponents would achieve a buffer of more than 3,000 higher than the required minimum number of signatures.

No hurry-up offense may be needed in the final quarter on this one.  Take it from me, however…full bore ahead through the final second.
