Polling in San Diego Tonight

I usually hate phone calls during dinner. But this one was worth taking. A polling company from Salt Lake City is calling asking about possible recall of Bob Filner and possible candidates for Mayor.

Asked if I had heard about the sexual misconduct allegations against Filner – and then if I thought they were true.

Asked if I had heard about the allegations of Filner taking money from developers for special treatment of them – and then if I thought they were true.

Tested opinions on:
-Bob Filner
-Carl DeMaio
-Nathan Fletcher
-Christine Kehoe
-Lori Saldana
-Toni Atkins
-Todd Gloria
-Steve Francis
-Kevin Faulconer

Question on whether I’d sign a Recall Petition against Bob Filner.

Question on whether I would download a petition and help gather signatures on my own.

Question on how many signatures I would be able to collect. 5 or less; 5 to 10; or 20 or more. (Full disclosure, I said 20 or more…)

Question on whether I would vote for Recall of Bob Filner.

I’m read a paragraph on Nathan Fletcher, talking about his multiple party switches and giving examples of major flip-flops on policies. I’m asked if I’d be more or less likely to support him as a result of hearing this information.

Then I’m asked about some head-to-heads with different combinations of candidates – all of the names above except Filner of course.

Then I’m asked whether I’d be more inclined or less inclined or would refuse to vote for someone who:

1. Knew about Filner’s harassment of women but endorsed and campaigned actively for him anyways

2. Has the same advisors and financial backers that helped elect Filner and helped cover-up his behavior

3. Witnessed erratic behavior by Filner in a private meeting, but said nothing at the time to stop the behavior

4. Voted to spike their own pension benefits and those of government employees, and committed securities fraud to cover up their actions

5. Is supported by the same downtown insiders who have controlled the city for many years

6. Is supported by the publisher of the UT San Diego and the Koch brothers who have an extreme agenda

7. Cheated on their wife with several women, including former members of his campaign and government staff in the past four years

8. Arranged special legislation for an organization, and then received a lucrative job as a reward after leaving office requiring them to do little actual work

Interestingly they did not go back and re-test based on these statements and matching them to actual candidate names.

No disclosure on who paid for the poll.
