Albongidas members like their politics spicy. The Mayor’s race in the City of San Diego is tailor made for this bunch and it remains the hot topic of monthly gatherings by members of the San Diego Chapter at Cafe Coyote in Old Town.
District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis made the first official visit by a declared mayoral candidate on Friday, June 10. She was well-received and by all appearances had a great time visiting with the poliwonks in attendance. Surprisingly, no one was arrested or served with a warrant, not always a given with our crew.
D-A Dumanis gets our inaugural “Jalapeno Popper” award for facing the friendly but tough crowd, along with our respect and thanks.
Whether her visit skewed the results in this month’s edition of the Meatball Poll we can’t say for sure, but our decidedly unscientific poll has some clear favorites among the serious candidates. As in May’s poll, Nathan Fletcher and Bob Filner continue to poll well among Meatballs.

I correctly predicted that Councilmember Kevin Faulconer would NOT run, which was made official this week. I predict Bob Filner will win the race 18 months from now. I was right about Jerry Brown becoming Governor 13 months out too. Who needs a poll?
