The Fletcher for Mayor campaign today unveiled more than 1,000 women who support Nathan Fletcher’s vision to move San Diego forward. The 1,000 women reflect the broad coalition supporting Fletcher’s campaign. They are mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, lawyers, businesswomen, non-profit leaders, students and more who represent the diverse population of San Diego.
Women for Fletcher unveiled the broad coalition at a news conference at Hera Hub, an innovative co-working space for women, in Sorrento Valley. Fletcher also announced plans to create a Women’s Mayoral Advisory Committee.
“Women will play an important role in my Administration,” said Nathan Fletcher. “I am honored that more than 1,000 women have joined our campaign. When I am mayor, I will make sure their voice is heard and respected at the City.”
Fletcher will create a Women’s Mayoral Advisory Committee that will be charged with helping to integrate women into the city government as well as providing feedback on issues facing the city and women. One priority of the committee will be finding, recruiting and nominating qualified women for appointments in city government, boards and commissions and other civic appointments and service. Additionally, the committee will offer ideas and feedback on issues such as education, job creation, the business climate, equal pay, domestic violence, city services and the special needs of our community such as support for military families.
Women for Fletcher also launched a recruiting video featuring Fletcher’s wife, Mindy Fletcher. The video includes Nathan’s and Mindy’s personal story as well as her take on his leadership style, the growing interest of women in his campaign, and how women can get involved. The video can be found here.
