Local news outlets are shrinking and growing at the same time. Sources are becoming perhaps more partisan and opinion oriented. Funding of news sources is becoming less transparent.
I was asked to come on board SD Rostra to start looking into and asking questions about the main MSM in San Diego … to point out when opinion pieces run as hard news, to note ideological bias, to take a look at the political and journalistic history and background of some of the reporters, and to examine funding sources of MSM news outlets.
I’m not a Muckraker, but I think that holding some of our proud local MSM TV, print, and online investigators to their own standards will be interesting.
