Today,  State Assemblyman Martin Garrick (R-Solana Beach)  officially announced an exploratory committee for the 38th state senate district, where incumbent Mark Wyland  is term-limited in 2014.  Assemblyman Garrick is now serving his 3rd, and final, term in the Assembly.   Garrick’s campaigns have been helmed by Revolvis consulting, which is led by Duane Dichiara and Jason Roe of San Diego.

Garrick rose to become the Assembly Minority leader last year and proudly wears the label of “Reagan Republican”.  He defeated Del Mar Mayor Crystal Crawford(D) in the November 2010 elections by a margin of 81,661 (56%) to 56,033  (38%).   Crawford has already indicated she will seek the seat again in 2012, and would be a formidable opponent.

Martin Garrick was a successful businessman when first elected in 2006, leading both  Admiral Industries and Admiral Property Company.
