The Daily Beast brings us this little nugget in the sea of top lists of this or that: The Top 11 Politicians to Watch in 2011 (guess spotlighting 11 rather than 10 is a play on the year).
And sliding into the No. 1 spot of this distinguished list: San Diego’s own Congressman Darrell Issa (R-Vista). Reason: He’s expected to head up the House Oversight Committee.
From the Beast story:
1. Rep Darrell Issa, California Republican
Washington has a new sheriff. Issa will chair the House Oversight Committee, with the power to instigate investigations against the White House and anyone else who the (sic) runs afoul of the 57-year-old Californian. Issa promises a busy year: He’s already announced that he’d like 280 hearings in 2011. During the first two years of the Obama administration, Issa fired off scores of letters to the Democrats, demanding investigations and asking questions about the White House’s behavior. (He’s called Obama, “one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times.”) “We’ll get a lot more answers to our questions in the majority than the minority,” he told The Daily Beast. “How acrimonious that gets is really up to them.”
Looks like 2011 should be nothing if not entertaining.

Thank you for the link to this story, Erica.
It has only taken the Beltway Media a DECADE to figure out
that Darrell Issa is (A) very intelligent and (B) has a focus
giving new meaning to the phrase, “Laser-Like”.
All of us who worked in his campaigns recognized both
those characteristics in about 10 minutes…not 10 years.
