The inaugural “First Friday Happy Hour for Conservatives” brought insiders together at the All American Grill in Hazard Center for an adult beverage (or two), commentary and predictions on Tuesday’s primary election from an entertaining round table of participants: David King, attorney and editor/publisher of San Diego News Room; John Nienstedt, President of Competitive Edge Research; and SD Rostra’s own Barry Jantz. Host Bob Schuman of CALLIDUS Consulting Group played moderator.
Among the insights offered up (cleaned up for this family website):
Howard Wayne wins the Sixth District City Council race, but Lorie Zapf squeaks in to create a runoff in November.
Bill Gore wins the Sheriff’s race outright… or he doesn’t.
Christine Rubin wins the 77th Assembly primary because she’s a girl. Seriously.
Joel Anderson wins the 36th State Senate primary.
Meg Whitman wins the Republican nomination for governor (but I say whoever wins, he or she is going to lose to Jerry Brown in November, and you read it here from me first on Rostra six months ago).
Strong mayor wins, term limits for supervisors wins.
Many thanks to Bob and CALLIDUS partner Janette Littler for hosting San Diego’s newest political tradition… and for inviting a token Libertarian or two. Then again, everyone is Libertarian after 6 p.m.
