I am honored to have been asked to run as a candidate in 76th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista and Encinitas. As a 40-year resident of North County and third term council member in the district’s largest city, I am thoroughly familiar with all of the communities within the 76th district.

I offer voters a knowledgeable, consensus building candidate with the ability to work with others to achieve goals that are beneficial to the whole region. I look forward to representing North County’s interests in Sacramento.

As a fiscally conservative retired teacher and charter school founder, I am running for Assembly because I would like to ensure that our children have access to a quality education in order to meet the economic demands of the future, not only for North County but the State of California.

We need to come up with creative solutions to attract new businesses to the region while keeping and strengthening the ones we have.  As past president of the Oceanside Chamber Commerce, I know the challenges that our businesses, both large and small, face on a daily basis.

We need to make California a pro-job, pro-employment state again with an education system that will support a 21st Century economy. I intend to be a strong voice for North County in the Assembly and to tackle the challenges facing our state and make California once again a great place for opportunity, not just to create but to manufacture.

I have had experience on the SANDAG Transportation Committee and the San Diego County Water Authority.  I will support smarter water and transportation infrastructure investments, not a high-speed rail system that will not be used and a twin tunnels project that will never be built.
