Grand Jury Report Validates Flaws in Case for New City Hall Project

I applaud the San Diego Grand Jury report released yesterday for questioning the renovation and leasing estimates used by the City to push for a new City Hall. This report validates our concerns that the project would cost millions of dollars we simply do not have.

I call on city leaders to abandon this project.  There are plenty of common sense alternatives that deserve consideration. San Diego taxpayers deserve an open and honest discussion on this important subject, with accurate and up to date information.

Since taking office in 2008, I have had concerns with this project and felt the numbers being used to validate support for this project were not accurate.  Below are links to memos my office has released since 2008 attempting to find accurate information and a reasonable answers to this project.  I hope that this report will be the final nail in the coffin of this bad idea.
