Flaws in Faulconer’s Convention Center Expansion Tax Proposal

City politicians are cooking up yet another flawed tax hike measure for the 2018 ballot. Just like we did in 2016 with flawed Measure A, I need your help to either convince them to alter course or defeat it at the ballot box.

We can all agree that expanding San Diego’s Convention Center is important for creating jobs and promoting tourism – and key to keeping Comic-Con. Unfortunately, city politicians are demanding we link the Convention Center expansion to a tax hike to finance a bunch of ill-defined social program spending increases in city government.

Today I released an alternative approach to expanding the Convention Center without a tax hike. You can read about the proposal here.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. I hope you will join me in urging City Leaders and our tourism industry to consider this alternative before raising taxes and creating a bunch of ill-defined spending earmarks.

PS: Since 2003 when I founded our ballot initiative committee, we have had a 100% success rate in defeating local tax hikes. 100%.
