From SD City Councilman Kevin Faulconer to Rostra yesterday…
Jan. 28 2011
I issued a memo this morning calling for immediate action on four key redevelopment projects. The memo is linked to this blog post.
It comes on the heels of the resolution I wrote opposing the governor’s plan to eliminate redevelopment agencies across the state. The City Council approved that resolution Monday with a 7-1 vote.
I want to make sure the four projects listed in my memo do not land on the chopping block.
Thank you for your continued support.
Regards,
Kevin

Interesting comment from <a href="http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/financial-crime-politics/2011/jan/28/faulconer-wants-to-hasten-downtown-projects/"Don Bauder's item on this maneuver:
“Gov. Brown has been in politics for a long time and probably knew this would happen and hopefully has a plan to reclaim this money. I have let Gov. Brown know that I support his plan to take redevelopment dollars away from the corrupt and put it back in the coffers for police, schools, pot hole repairs, etc. where it should be. I hope all of you that are sick and tired of the redevelopment raid (not to mention all the other abuses) on our tax dollars will do the same.”
