Easter Earthquake Reminiscent of December 1968 shaker

Today’s earthquake was centered in Mexico, south of Mexicali, according
to the Cal Tech seismology website, as shown in the accompanying chart.

The duration (45 seconds) and strength (6.9 on the Richter scale) are similar
to a December 1968 earthquake in the extreme northern end of the Gulf of Baja.
That one measured 6.8 and felt exactly like today’s event. It will be interesting
to see if the 2 quakes, 42 years apart, involve the same fault.
