In a KOCT interview for the 76th Assembly District race, Logan Jenkins asks Rocky Chavez about his support for Cap and Trade and his belief in global warming. Chavez sums up his support for both with the slick sound bite, “I believe in science.” He supports Cap and Trade, but disapproves of the lack of budgetary transparency. He points out that government has fixed the smog problem. (The global warming discussion can be found at minute 18 of the linked video.)
Sounds reasonable, but let’s talk about reality. We have had global warming since the middle of the last ice age – millions of years before man existed. Science would indicate that man is not the cause of global warming in the same way man is the cause of smog. Important distinction. The question shouldn’t be does man impact his environment, as every living creature impacts their environment. The question should be what is the cost of Cap and Trade laws on the jobs of the people Rocky would serve. That question is one he didn’t even consider.
If you want a representative who considers your needs first, then vote for Sherry Hodges. She doesn’t talk in sound bites, but she deeply cares about bringing jobs back to California. It is her top priority.
