Color Us Surprised — Pension Board Veto Update…

In reference to Mayor Bob Filner’s veto of his own appointments to the City of San Diego pension board and the question of whether the City Council had six votes for an override:

From Rostra, Monday…

We can guess where Myrtle Cole and Marti Emerald will stand on that issue when it is discussed today during the City Council meeting. Whatever Bob says.

How David Alvarez and Sherri Lightner view it may shed some light on whether the City Council has enough votes to no longer stomach the mayor’s crass shenanigans.

From Craig Gustafson at U-T San Diego, today…

The council voted 5-3 in favor of overriding the mayor’s veto but six votes are required so the veto stands and the previous appointments were nixed. Gloria, a Democrat, and the council Republicans supported the veto while Democrats David Alvarez, Myrtle Cole and Sherri Lightner sided with Filner. Democrat Marti Emerald was absent.

Color us surprised. Not.
